Medication-Assisted Treatment
Medication-assisted treatment is pivotal in addiction recovery. So how does it work? It’s simple really. We combine specific medications with individual counseling and behavioral therapies to provide an all-encompassing approach to substance abuse treatment. This isn’t just some new-age theory. It’s a proven method backed by science.
An integral part of the recovery journey, our MAT in New Jersey addiction treatment services is designed to address issues related to opioid and alcohol addiction. By using FDA-approved medications, we’re able to stabilize brain chemistry, block euphoric effects associated with substance use, relieve physiological cravings, and normalize body functions.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, clients work one-on-one with a licensed therapist in a safe, secure, and confidential environment. Individual therapy sessions allow clients to open up about topics they might not feel comfortable discussing in a group setting. The process is a joint effort between the client and their assigned therapist. The client and therapist build a healthy and trusting relationship as they navigate challenges and identify what contributed to the development of the substance use disorder in the first place.
Licensed therapeutic professionals employ a range of techniques to help clients make lasting lifestyle changes. Some of the evidence-based therapies that clients utilize during individual therapy sessions include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Contingency Management (CM). The role of the therapist is to identify underlying causes that led to the development of the substance use disorder. Once contributing factors are identified, the therapist presents strategies geared toward changing self-defeating thoughts and behavioral patterns.
Relapse Prevention
Relapse prevention is an essential part of our New Jersey addiction treatment services. At Enlightened Recovery, we offer personalized relapse prevention training. We help clients identify their personal relapse triggers and equip them with the healthy coping mechanisms they need to maintain sobriety long-term.
Relapse prevention training is broken down into four distinct ideas:
1.
Relapse is a gradual process, and can be successfully prevented with the implementation of certain techniques.
2.
Recovery is not a linear process. Each stage of the recovery process comes with its challenges and milestones. Consequently, each stage of the recovery process has risks of relapse.
3.
The development of healthy coping skills is essential to relapse prevention. The two main tools utilized in relapse prevention training are CBT and mind-body relaxation.
4.
Most relapses are attributed to a decline in one of the following areas: self-care, honesty, asking for help, following ‘the rules,’ and working towards a healthier lifestyle.
Wellness and Nutrition Groups
Some treatment centers work on nutrition and wellness in private or individual settings, but here at Enlightened Recovery, we work in groups because it’s been our experience that those who learn wellness and nutrition in a group environment tend to be more successful in recovery. We can share experiences and create a buddy system to help someone stay on track – when you’ve made your wellness and nutrition goals known to another person, you’re more likely to stick to them.
For every client in our New Jersey addiction treatment services, it comes down to the fact that they’re all learning something new and experiencing new sensations as they remove the toxic drugs and alcohol from their bodies. When we start eating well and consuming the foods that promote clear, healthy thought processes, we can begin to feed the many emotions required for the mind, body, and spirit connection. Think back to the Enlightened Recovery logo description – if you connect all the colors of the chakras with corresponding foods to nourish every part of you, you can unlock so many things in your body and spirit that can change your perspective on life and how you feel on a daily basis.
Spiritual Care and Mentoring
Those who find something to drive them forward, such as a belief in nature or a religious aspect of themselves, are less likely to relapse after treatment. We integrate a focus on spirituality into our relapse prevention skill planning and life skill integration that each client can carry over into their everyday lives long after their time with us comes to a close. All of our clients are encouraged to take part in this program because it’s another lifeline to use in times of difficulty. There will be some hard times in your life after treatment, but we hope to give you a firm foundation while you’re here and continue to build you up and support you out there in the world, the wonderful and challenging world you’ve been waiting to embrace fully.
We see incredible strength in every one of our clients as they step into something that can free them from living a life that is less than what they deserve. You as a person, a whole person, deserve to be happy and well, but it takes work and a belief that you can be better with the support and happiness that comes from within. Spirituality can help you find that space inside of yourself to feel happiness and cherish your life as it can be if you truly want it. At Enlightened Recovery, we know that some people may have a deep-rooted desire to feel this peace and love come from within, they just don’t know where to begin.
Aftercare
Recovery does not end when treatment does. At Enlightened Recovery, our aftercare program supports clients as they transition back into everyday life. The goal is to maintain the progress made during treatment and keep the momentum going. The period following formal treatment is often one of the most challenging stretches of recovery. Having the right support in place during that window makes a real difference in long-term outcomes.
Our aftercare services help clients stay connected to the recovery community. They continue building on the coping skills developed during treatment, with support available when challenges arise. We work with each client to build an aftercare plan that fits their life. Whether through continued counseling, alumni programming, or community resources, the plan is built around what will actually work for them.
Case Management
Navigating the practical side of recovery can feel overwhelming. Managing logistics while also focusing on mental and emotional health is a lot to carry at once. Our case management services help clients address the real-world challenges of building a life in recovery. Our case managers work alongside clients every step of the way. They coordinate care, connect clients with community resources, and help manage appointments and discharge planning.
Case management is about more than logistics. It’s about making sure nothing falls through the cracks during one of the most important transitions a person can make. Our case managers serve as advocates for each client. They work to reduce barriers and create a smoother, more supported path through treatment and beyond.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is one of the most well-researched approaches in addiction treatment. It sits at the core of how we help clients at Enlightened Recovery. CBT helps clients identify the thoughts and beliefs driving harmful behaviors. From there, practical strategies are developed to challenge and change those patterns. The connection between what we think, how we feel, and how we behave is powerful. CBT gives clients the tools to interrupt cycles that have kept them stuck.
In CBT sessions, clients work with licensed therapists in a structured but supportive environment. Together, they uncover the thinking patterns connected to substance use. Over time, these sessions help clients build a stronger foundation for decision-making, emotional regulation, and long-term sobriety. CBT skills are practical, meaning clients can use them well beyond our facility’s walls.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical behavior therapy was originally developed to help people manage intense emotional experiences. It has proven highly effective in addiction treatment as well. At Enlightened Recovery, we use DBT to help clients who struggle with emotional dysregulation, impulsive behaviors, or difficult interpersonal relationships. These challenges are common among those dealing with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
DBT focuses on four core skill areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Together, these skills help clients navigate difficult emotions without turning to substances as a way to cope. Our therapists integrate DBT into individual and group sessions. Clients get consistent opportunities to practice and strengthen these skills in a supportive setting.
Family Therapy
Addiction affects more than just the person struggling with it. Families often carry their own pain, confusion, and frustration as a result of a loved one’s substance use. Those relationships need healing, too. At Enlightened Recovery, our family therapy program brings loved ones into the recovery process in a structured, supportive way. The goal is to rebuild trust, improve communication, and create a healthier dynamic for everyone involved.
Our licensed therapists facilitate family sessions with care and compassion, creating a safe space where difficult conversations can happen productively. Family therapy helps loved ones understand addiction, set healthy boundaries, and learn how to support recovery without enabling harmful behaviors. When families heal alongside the person in treatment, the outcomes tend to be stronger and more lasting for everyone.
Group Therapy
There is something powerful that happens when people in recovery come together to share their experiences honestly. Group therapy is a cornerstone of our New Jersey addiction treatment services at Enlightened Recovery. It gives clients a sense of community, accountability, and shared understanding individual therapy alone cannot replicate. Hearing how others have navigated similar struggles can be one of the most validating parts of the recovery process. It reminds clients they are not alone.
Licensed therapists facilitate our group therapy sessions and cover topics relevant to recovery. Coping strategies, emotional processing, and life skills development are all part of the work. Groups are kept small enough to allow for genuine connection. The diversity of perspectives in the room is part of what makes group work so valuable. Clients often tell us the connections built in group therapy become one of their most valued sources of support.
Holistic Therapy
At Enlightened Recovery, true healing requires attention to the whole person, not just the addiction. Our holistic therapy program integrates alternative and complementary approaches alongside traditional clinical care. Together, they support healing of the mind, body, and spirit. Addiction affects every dimension of a person’s life. Recovery requires nurturing all of those dimensions in return.
Holistic therapy at our facility may include practices such as yoga, meditation, art therapy, music therapy, acupuncture, and mindfulness-based approaches. These are not add-ons to our program. They help clients reconnect with themselves, manage stress, and develop a daily practice supporting long-term well-being. Many clients find holistic therapies open doors to healing more than traditional approaches alone.
Intervention Services
Sometimes, the most loving thing a family can do is ask for outside help. When a loved one is not yet ready to seek help, a professionally guided intervention can be the turning point. It opens the door to recovery in a way that going it alone rarely does. At Enlightened Recovery, our intervention services are designed to support families through this process with compassion, structure, and expertise.
Our team works with families before, during, and after the intervention to ensure that everyone involved feels prepared and supported. A well-planned intervention is not about confrontation. It’s about communicating love and concern clearly, honestly, and without blame. We help families find the right words and approach. The goal is to give their loved one the best chance of saying yes to help.
